International recognition for ESMA talent

The student film Trash, directed by Gregory Bouzid, Maxime Crançon, Robin Delaporte, Matteo Durand, Romain Fleischer, Alexis Le Ral, Margaux Lutz, and Fanny Vecchie during their final year at ESMA, was included in the official longlist for the 2025 BAFTA Student Awards in early May.

Selected from over 1,000 entries from around the world, Trash was already proudly flying the flag for ESMA alongside three other films from the school, Cartagène, Dawn and Tricot de Corps, as well as the student video game Dans la peau d’un Polatouche.

On May 19, the long-awaited results were announced: Trash is now officially a finalist in this international competition and will compete alongside two other student films!

Five categories and a Special Jury Prize

Created in 2017, the BAFTA Student Awards recognize the best student achievements in five disciplines each year: live action, animation, documentary, video games, and immersion. Widely recognized in the film and entertainment industry, they showcase emerging talent and often pave the way for brilliant careers.

At this stage, a total of 15 finalists have been selected across all categories, offering major recognition, a guarantee of artistic and technical quality, and a tremendous opportunity for professional development.

Among the awards to be presented is a Special Jury Prize, awarded by a panel of personalities from the entertainment industry.

The verdict will be announced in June!

This nomination is further proof of the excellence of ESMA’s training and the boundless creativity of its students, who are ready to make their mark on the international stage.

To continue the celebrations, we will have to wait until the final results are announced at the official ceremony in Los Angeles from June 9 to 13.

The entire teaching and administrative staff at ESMA are rooting for the directors of Trash and wish them every success!
