ESMA Nantes: a vibrant campus at the heart of innovation!
A city of a thousand faces, renowned for inspiring some of the world’s greatest artists, Nantes is one of those places where students quickly find their feet.
The festive life, the many cultural events and its model of a green city generally win their favour, allowing them to blossom serenely in their studies. ESMA Nantes opened its doors in 2013, in the heart of the Ile de Nantes, an unspoilt setting offering beautiful walks along the banks of the Loire, where it offers a course in 3D Animation and Special Effects, a course in Video Games and, of course, a year of Preparatory Studies in Entertainment.

Ideally located in the heart of the Ile de Nantes, where it forms an integral part of the dynamic Quartier de la Création alongside many other cultural and creative industries, ESMA Nantes spans a 2,600m² campus, which it shares with the CinéCréatis film school. ESMA Nantes trains tomorrow’s entertainment professionals in an inclusive environment that is conducive to creative development and rich in state-of-the-art infrastructure and facilities.
In contact with a community of passionate creatives and professionals, our students develop new skills, broaden their horizons and benefit from a stimulating environment that encourages innovation. All of which reinforces their uniqueness and prepares them effectively for the demands of the professional world.
Our accommodation
135 student flats next to the school!
With 135 accommodation units located in the immediate vicinity of the school, ESMA students have priority access to quality accommodation.
The Artémisia residence, a long-standing partner of the school, includes fully equipped and furnished studio and one-bedroom flats that are fully adapted to the needs of new students in Nantes. For students starting their training at ESMA, these residential opportunities offer rare convenience and optimum accessibility.
On a day-to-day basis, the residence’s tenants have all the essentials for their comfort (sofa bed, dining table, television, fully-equipped kitchenette, office area, etc.), and can take advantage of a wide range of practical services such as cleaning, laundry and even breakfast.
All in all, an ideal environment in which to concentrate on building their professional future!

A rich, dynamic, cross-disciplinary cultural offering
Nantes has never forgotten the greatness of its cultural heritage, particularly the dynamism of its port and the cultural influence of the days when it was the capital of the Dukes of Brittany. The city offers a rich and varied range of cultural activities to suit all tastes.
Among the year’s highlights are music events such as Hellfest, Poupet, La Folle Journée and Nuit de l’Erdre, each of which attracts thousands of fans. Le Voyage à Nantes is another eagerly-awaited event, transforming the city into an artistic journey and offering the chance to discover unique installations and contemporary works of art.
ESMA students will certainly not want to miss the Scopitone festival, which celebrates electronic culture and the digital arts, or Les Utopiales, the International Science Fiction Festival, which offers an immersion into this fascinating universe. It’s a great programme that’s sure to delight the newcomers to Nantes!

In their spare time, students can relax and explore the city’s lively districts, such as the Bouffay, renowned for its picturesque cafés and cobbled streets steeped in history. They will also have the opportunity to stroll along the Loire, which is just a short walk from the campus.
Nantes is full of surprises, and the city’s urban planning and sustainable development initiatives are just some of its many attractions. The cultural events on offer in the city make Nantes an exceptional place to live and study, and a particularly rewarding one for art school students!

Naolib, an optimised version of transport in Nantes
Nantes’ new Naolib network has considerably boosted the city’s public transport system, particularly benefiting students. With an extensive network including trams, buses, car-sharing services and a constantly expanding fleet of bicycles, Nantes is responding effectively to the growing demand from its residents.
This improvement is particularly advantageous for ESMA Nantes students, who can get to Nantes station in just 20 minutes thanks to the reliability of the network, and have easy access to Nantes Atlantique airport via dedicated shuttles. This will simplify their daily lives, as well as any journeys they may need to make.
