From 2 to 6 December, ESMA's Montpellier campus is organising Disability Week, an event dedicated to raising awareness, inclusion and equal rights for people with disabilities. Through a rich and varied programme, this initiative demonstrates our commitment to a school that is more accessible and open to all.
Raising awareness, inclusion and action for the future
Disability Week at ESMA has several objectives:
- To raise awareness among students and teams of the challenges faced by people with disabilities.
- Promote inclusion and accessibility, while promoting fundamental rights for all.
- To show our support and commitment to the students concerned, by creating an environment that is conducive to their success.
- Engage in long-term collective reflection to help creative schools evolve and become ever more accessible.
By inviting students, teachers and partners to take part in this event, ESMA intends to reinforce its role as a committed player for a fairer and more inclusive society.
A rich and interactive programme
This themed week offers a range of activities designed to encourage reflection, discussion and awareness of disability issues. Here are the key moments:
The Digital Ideas Box: Imagining the ESMA of tomorrow
A participative tool will allow each student to submit ideas to improve inclusion and accessibility on campus. The aim of this initiative is to mobilise the entire ESMA community around a collective reflection, which is essential if we are to improve our practices.
Information stands: exploring solutions
A stand run by the MauvaisCancresassociation will be offering resources and advice on neurodevelopmental disorders. Using role-playing tools, everyone will be able to gain a better understanding of the realities experienced by those affected.
Inspirational talks: experts speak out and share their experiences
- Christopher Boyd, comic book author and illustrator, will share his atypical journey marked by dyslexia. He will give practical advice on how to succeed at school and in the workplace.
- The Dyspraxique maisFantastiqueassociation , represented by its president Nadia Chebaiki, will be presenting the issues surrounding dyspraxia and multiple dyslexia. Time will be devoted to technological solutions and the adaptations needed to use IT tools.
Film screenings: different perspectives on disability
The week will be enhanced by two screenings open to the public:
- Wednesday 4 December 6-7pm – screening of the documentary “Non conforme” directed by Vincent Dumesnil
- Thursday 5 December 6pm-7.30pm – Mini-conference and screening of the film “Le Monde est ton huître”, in the presence of 2 of the film’s directors
During these screenings, you can also discover short films made by ESMA and CinéCréatis students, highlighting different aspects of disability.

A long-term approach
Through this event, ESMA is reaffirming its commitment to putting inclusion at the heart of its concerns. This week is also an opportunity to listen, learn and adapt to become an even more accessible school that is attentive to the needs of all its students.
