ESMA students design Medusas' first jersey

Montpellier Hockey Club launches a creative challenge for our Graphic Design students

Montpellier Hockey Club, well known for its men’s team, the Vipers, is about to enter a new era with the creation of its women’s team, the Médusas.

To mark the launch of this team, the club called on ESMA to design the visuals that would adorn the players’ shirts. The project was entrusted to second-year Graphic Design students, who took up the challenge with enthusiasm. Among the many proposals, it was the work of student Ilhona Braida that was chosen to embody the identity of this fledgling team.

The logo created by Ilhona captures the essence of the Médusas: vivacity, strength and fighting spirit. While using the Vipers’ emblematic colours, Ilhona has transformed these elements into a stylised Medusa head, a true symbol of power and agility. The visual perfectly embodies the spirit of the women’s team, ready to conquer the rink under this new banner.

An emotional presentation and a collaboration in the spotlight

The unveiling of the jersey was an emotional moment for both the players and Ilhona. The emotion was palpable as the Médusas discovered the jersey that will carry their ambitions throughout the season. For Ilhona, seeing her work come to life in this way, worn by such an inspiring team, was an unforgettable experience. The Médusas jersey now proudly bears three logos: that of the Médusas, that of Montpellier Hockey Club and that of ESMA. This tripartite presence testifies to the rich collaboration between the school, its students and the sports club.

A historic first match not to be missed

The first Médusas match will take place this Saturday 19 October at the VEGAPOLIS ice rink in Odysseum. Kick-off is at 7pm, and to celebrate this great collaboration, ESMA students will have the honour of kicking off the match. They will also be awarding prizes to the two best players of the match, a symbolic moment that will highlight the alliance between creativity and sport.

We invite all hockey fans, design enthusiasts and the curious to come along and support the Montpellier women’s team. This match will not only be an exceptional sporting event, but also an opportunity to celebrate the involvement of our students in this unique project.
