On Thursday 27 March, ESMA Rennes is opening its doors to the public for an exciting meeting with Renaud Louvet, VFX Supervisor at BUF Studio. A unique opportunity to go behind the scenes of special effects in cinema, followed by a screening of short films by ESMA and Pivaut students.

Renaud Louvet, a rich career in cinema, series and music videos

With a degree in animation and visual effects, Renaud Louvet has collaborated on prestigious projects in France and abroad. His career has led him to work on films such as Blade Runner 2049, High Life and The Wolf’s Call. He has also participated in iconic series such as Twin Peaks, Watchmen and Treadstone, and in music videos for global stars including Lil Nas X and Ariana Grande. Currently a VFX Supervisor at BUF Studio, he puts his expertise at the service of demanding productions.

 

VFX Supervisor, a key role in the magic of special effects

During this conference, Renaud Louvet will explain what his job as a VFX Supervisor involves, a true conductor of the visual effects on a project. He manages the teams, guarantees technical and artistic quality, and ensures consistency between the special effects and the directors’ vision.

He will also talk about the history and expertise of BUF Studio, a renowned French studio known for its work on films such as The Count of Monte Cristo, Arthur and the Invisibles, Beetlejuice and The Marsupilami.

 

A screening to extend the experience

After the conference, the public is invited to discover a selection of short films made by students from ESMA and the Pivaut school. This screening, which will take place from 6 to 7 p.m., will offer a glimpse of the creativity and talent of the young artists trained in Rennes.

An ideal evening to fully immerse yourself in the world of animated films and special effects.
