An event to discover video games in a different way
The ESMA GAME SHOW is designed to be a great opportunity to have fun, meet new people and discover new things.
In a setting combining technology, creativity and passion, the public will be able to play games, watch demonstrations, take part in workshops and talk to the people who bring video games to life on a daily basis.
It’s a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in this world, whether you’re a gamer, a fan of new technologies or simply curious.
Student games to try out
One of the highlights of the day will be a playtest of the final year games created by ESMA students.
Throughout the event, students will be on hand to showcase their games, guide players and explain their creative choices. Visitors will be able to play freely, talk to the students and gain a better understanding of the many skills involved in creating a game: game design, graphics, animation, programming and sound design.
eSport tournament and gaming events
The eSport tournament will be hosted by ESMA students, who will be putting their passion and expertise at the service of the public.
They will ensure that the competitions run smoothly , in a friendly and dynamic atmosphere. It’s the ideal opportunity to share a moment of play and exchange, while discovering the commitment and creativity of future video game professionals.
Workshops and interactive demonstrations
Throughout the day, the public will be able to take part in workshops and interactive demonstrations to discover what goes on behind the scenes of video game creation. These sessions will explore the different disciplines and techniques used by game creators, in a fun atmosphere accessible to all. Each workshop will be led by an ESMA video game teacher, who will accompany participants, explain the creative process and answer questions live. A unique opportunity to learn, experiment and understand the work behind a video game, while having fun.
Motion Capture workshop: at the heart of the technology that brings characters to life
ESMA GAME SHOW is offering an exceptionalMotion Capture workshop, set up in the 600 m² film studio on campus. Motion capture is a technology used to record an actor’s real-life movements and then transfer them to a digital character in a video game. It is used in particular to give characters natural, realistic and expressive animations.
Throughout the day, live demonstrations will be given: visitors will be able to see how movements are captured, interpreted by the software and then applied instantly to a character on screen. The ESMA teams will comment on each stage in real time, allowing spectators to see for themselves how this technology transforms a real gesture into an animated game. It’s an immersive and spectacular experience, providing an insight into one of the most impressive technologies in video games.
Conferences and meetings
The ESMA GAME SHOW will also be a time for exchange and sharing. Conferences and meetings will provide an opportunity to talk to students, teachers and professionals in the sector, to find out more about video game careers and to gain a better understanding of the career paths available.
