2nd year students from the Graphic Design Cycle in Toulouse are working on chocolate bar packaging. A deliciously tasty subject!
The 2nd year students on the Graphic Design Cycle in Toulouse have been working on packaging with their teachers Samuel Bonnet and Edouard Marpeau. Packaging is an important concept in the world of graphic design, as it is one of the first things that consumers come across. The act of buying may even be prompted by it. Packaging plays a number of roles: it conveys a brand’s identity and positioning, while enabling it to stand out from the competition; it protects the product inside; it indicates various information (mandatory or not), etc.
For this assignment, the subject was rather greedy, as the students focused on one of the most popular sweets: chocolate! It was up to them to come up with the packaging and art direction for the new Xocola brand of chocolate bars.
TOPIC
To think about the design of the packaging for the various Xocola brand chocolate bars.
INSTRUCTIONS
- Propose several packaging designs for each chocolate bar,
- The graphics must be consistent from one bar to the next,
- Create a brand identity,
- Visually convey the history, origin and atmosphere of the product.
EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
This workshop enabled the students to design effective packaging in line with the initial brief, while respecting the product itself.
Focusing on a highly competitive market, the students had to enable the Xocola brand to stand out from the crowd by proposing a range of packaging.
As well as designing the packaging, the aim was also to get the students to think about and translate the consumer’s tasting experience through a visual while providing them with information about the product.
techniques
InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator.
