The lab

A research initiative launched by the Ecoles Créatives

ESMA, as a founding member of the Ecoles Créatives – alongside its partners CinéCréatis, ETPA, Pivaut & IFFDEC – launched the Lab in 2024.

A veritable laboratory for research and innovation, the Lab is part of the Écoles Créatives’ commitment to questioning their role in society and constantly adapting their teaching approach to reflect changes in the sectors they prepare students for.

  • A research and innovation laboratory

The Lab brings together researchers, teachers and professionals to address the technological and societal challenges facing the creative sector.

We focus on two key themes: innovative production methods (AI, Responsibility, Inclusivity) and the creation of engaging narratives (Imagination, Aesthetics, Emotion).

Our mission : to continually adapt our teaching methods to prepare our students for the changing face of the creative professions.

  • An observatory and network for creation

Le Lab. is positioned as an observatory of the Cultural and Creative Industries (CCI). We explore emerging practices to equip our students with the skills, methods and tools they need to succeed in their careers.

Our schools mobilise their expertise by collaborating with major research players, notably from the CNRS (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique) and INRIA (Institut National de Recherche en Sciences et Technologies du Numérique).

Impact Month

An annual event for the cultural and creative industries

le lab conférence

A synergy of players serving the development of the creative professions

An annual event organised by all the Ecoles Créatives, Impact Month is a key moment during which experts, teachers, researchers and other key players in the Cultural & Creative Industries come together, exchange ideas and collaborate, with a view to exploring a topical issue in greater depth.

Impact Month aims to be a catalyst for reflection and innovation, by developing this participative work and questioning professional uses and perspectives.

Round-table discussions, conferences, workshops and screenings are just some of the events that will shed light on Impact Month and provide food for thought for the various participants.

Impact Month in review : summary and outlook

At the end of an intense and stimulating month, the Écoles Créatives organise a debriefing conference with renowned experts, the culmination of an experience rich in discoveries and constructive exchanges.

The aim of this final conference is to summarise the lessons learned from the discussions and work carried out during Impact Month, and to draw conclusions to guide the future direction of the Écoles Créatives as educational leaders.

These lessons are intended not only to enrich the pedagogical thinking of our teachers, but also to benefit our students, both during their training and in their future professional careers.
