Macro: work over 3 weeks on half-raisin format (50 × 32.5 cm)
The MANAA students from Nantes spent 3 weeks working on a half-raisin format with their drawing and painting teacher Nadja Holland.
About the semi-raisin format
Raisin (50 × 65 cm), half-raisin (50 × 32.5 cm) and double-raisin (100 × 65 cm) are French paper formats defined by AFNOR. Its name comes from the watermark on pages in these formats(source).
The exercise
Zoom in on a part of a plant or animal. Each student chose a photo, then the framing for the zoom. The students experimented and we then worked on ways of representing fur, scales, skin, stems, leaves, etc
The objective
The aim was to find out how to mix techniques and anticipate a realistic rendering.
