This illustrated edition of Salamandastron - by Brian Jacques - was produced by Chên Voillery, a student in the Illustration Concept Art section at ESMA (class of 2022).
My childhood and my imagination were lulled by Brian Jacques’ medieval animal fantasy novels, which were given to me every Christmas by my grandparents. The volume of the saga I’ve chosen came out in 1992, the year my sister was born, so I’m presenting an anniversary edition to mark the 30th anniversary of its original release.
I wanted to pay tribute to these memories and these links in an edition illustrated, laid out and bound by myself. My inspiration comes from my love of the forest, history, medieval books and my grandmother’s apple pies.
