Digi Double

Students in their 3rd year of 3D Animation and Special Effects have produced a digital self-portrait. A confusing, complex and highly technical exercise!

Lyon’s 3D Animation and Special Effects students have created a highly complex workshop: the digital double, also known as the digital twin. The idea is to reproduce oneself identically, without cheating and without filters, in digital form.

Subject of the exercise

Creating your digital double.

EXERCISE INSTRUCTIONS

  • Make your digital “photo”,
  • Don’t leave out or change anything about yourself,
  • Work from scans of yourself,
  • Adding light.

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVE

A technique increasingly used in the world of digital images, the digital double – or digital twin – is a highly complex exercise. It has to be as close as possible to reality in order to be credible to viewers.

This double is used to embed a head on another body, to replace an actor in a dangerous scene, to multiply an actor, and so on. This technique is becoming increasingly widespread in the professional world.

It’s a highly formative exercise that requires students to bring together all the skills they have acquired throughout their course.

TECHNIQUE(S)
