Le Prix De La Gloire tells the story of Antoine, a young French pilot, facing off against a formidable German opponent. At first convinced of an easy victory, Antoine soon sees the situation swing against him. Just as he thinks his last hour has come, an unexpected opportunity allows him to turn the tide and triumph. But victory comes at a price: on landing, Antoine comes face to face with his dying enemy and realises that with glory comes an unsuspected moral burden.

A strong genre, an original script

The military aviation of the First World War is a theme marked by strong aesthetics and a rich history. Finding an original approach in this universe was one of the major challenges of the project. Le Prix De La Gloire not only offers an impressive combat scene, but also a profound reflection on the notion of victory and sacrifice. This narrative approach gives the film a strong emotional dimension, setting it apart from conventional representations of the genre.

A major technical challenge

Over and above the story, one of the greatest technical challenges lay in bringing the main character to life. Sitting in his cockpit, under the wings of his plane and behind goggles, Antoine was difficult to see. The complexity was all the greater given that all the action takes place against a grey sky, with an environment lacking in light reflections. Striking a balance between the legibility of the character and respect for the realistic atmosphere required in-depth work on the lighting and textures. Thanks to their technical expertise, the film team overcame this obstacle to deliver a scene that is both legible and immersive.
