The student short film Coquille, made by our Class of 2023 students, has been selected for the famous FOYLE FILM FESTIVAL, a world-renowned event held every year in the UK!
Prestigious recognition for ESMA
The FOYLE FILM FESTIVAL , one of the most prestigious film festivals in the world, is a showcase for cinematographic excellence, welcoming films from both emerging and established talent. Being selected for this festival is an exceptional recognition of the technical and narrative quality of Coquille.

Coquille: an adventure in the heart of the calanques
In this touching and visually captivating short film, Bernard, a little hermit crab, finds himself separated from his precious shell after being swept away by a seagull. Dropped off on a tourist beach, he meets Morice, a deformed little crab living under a bottle cap. Together, they face the dangers of a beach littered with rubbish and natural obstacles, while learning to trust each other. Through this adventure, Bernard discovers the importance of friendship and of surpassing oneself.

Made in the calanques, bathed in light, Coquille is distinguished by its meticulous aesthetic and moving narrative, which also raises awareness of environmental issues.
The film is the collective work of ESMA students Justine Aubert, Cassandra Bouton, Grégoire Cailles, Maud Chesneau, Anna Danton, Loïc Girault, Gatien Payrude and Justine Raux, class of 2023. Their dedication, creativity and technical mastery have enabled them to produce a work that is now shining on the international stage.

Good luck to Coquille!
The entire ESMA team is proud of this recognition and would like to encourage our talented students in this competition. We hope that Coquille will touch the hearts of the jury and continue its journey to new heights.
